Thank you so much for the part you played in bringing the Using Power of the Internet for Learning program to East Side Charter School!  Being a millennial I didn’t believe I was actually going to learn things things I didn’t already know but to my surprise I did! This class was hands on and kept everyone’s attention which is quite the task when computers are involved.

An evening course scheduled for February 12 in the Elbert Palmer computer lab had many challenges.  The chief challenge was weather, it was 33 degrees under a winter sky.  The three BoardRoom instructors doubted that many of the scheduled 18 parents would be in attendance under such extreme weather conditions.  Much to their delight, absence was negligible.  Most impressive was Ms. Reveena Harris, who traveled a mile via a motorized wheel chair in freezing weather, on her quest to complete the course requirements.  Ms. Harris’ award is being used to help her educate her grandson who is a deaf student in Wilmington, DE.

Ms. Devona Pitts entered Bancroft Elementary School with her five-week old baby Bryson strapped on her chest and Bryson’s three siblings, Blair, Dana and Destiny in tow.  Now, the trajectory of the Pitts family five has been positively affected with Ms. Pitts’ decision to learn to use these skills to enhance her family’s educational and economic opportunities.
